TITLE: Behavior Interventionist

REPORTS TO: Assigned Department Head


TERM: 10 months (200-day calendar), Exempt

JOB GOAL: To provide support, monitoring, and training in using behavior management techniques, intervention strategies, coping skills and problem solving for students with behavior challenges.


  • A minimum of Bachelor's Degree
  • Certification in Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Counseling or Psychology preferred
  • BCBA, BCaBA preferred
  • A minimum of (3) three years of experience providing behavior services to students or adults and/or working with mental health issues and needs
  • Knowledge of the general needs and behavior of children diagnosed with adverse childhood experiences, serious emotional disturbance, and other challenging behaviors
  • Understanding of basic crisis and behavioral interventions, including positive behavior intervention strategies and regulations and individual and classroom management technique
  • FBI/TBI Fingerprint/Background Clearance every five (5) years

Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent might find appropriate and acceptable

EVALULATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.


  1. Communicates with parents and instructional staff regarding behavior needs of students.
  2. Tracks and reports behavior data as requested.
  3. Participates and provides behavior training and in-service.
  4. Assists in completing Functional Behavioral Analysis (FBA's) and writing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP's).
  5. Assists instructional personnel with the development of learning materials and reinforcement strategies according to student's BIP.
  6. Confers with instructional personnel and provide input regarding student progress.
  7. Assists instructional personnel and parents with behavior management of students.
  8. Monitors state and federal compliance for all students relative to disciplinary codes including in and out of school suspensions and alternative behavior interventions.
  9. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive and privileged information.
  10. Performs other related duties as assigned by assigned department head.
