TITLE: Director of Human Resources

REPORTS TO: Chief Talent and Strategy Officer

SUPERVISES: Employees in HR Department

TERM: 12 months (260-day) Calendar, Exempt

JOB GOAL: To direct and supervise talent, recruitment, hiring, onboarding, development, evaluation, and employee fulfillment for the employees in JMCSS while leading the development of an employee-oriented company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, efficiency, and high performance.


  • Master's Degree in Education Administration, Human Resources Management, or Business Administration
  • Experience in School HR, highly preferred
  • Must have a minimum of five years of professional experience in supervision; education background strongly preferred
  • FBI/TBI Fingerprint/Background Clearance every five (5) years
  • Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent might find appropriate and acceptable

EVALULATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.


  1. Supports school and district administrators to know their staff well and build the satisfaction, fulfillment, and retention of all staff.
  2. Leads staff to successfully meet all annual recruitment, hiring, performance evaluation, and human resource targets.
  3. Manages and coaches the JMCSS hiring and recruitment team members to effectively develop strategies and execute plans for the HR Department.
  4. Serves as a key member of the JMCSS team to contribute to building a positive, collaborative, and values-driven team.
  5. Ensures that JMCSS is in compliance as it relates to federal and state labor laws.
  6. Oversees teacher credentialing process to ensure that JMCSS meets regulations outlined by TDOE.
  7. Anticipates the needs of the organization's HR capacity and utilizes data and information to accurately project and present needs and areas for growth.
  8. Develops an annual budget for the needs of the Human Resources Department.
  9. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Talent and Strategy Officer
