TITLE: Journeyman- Alarm Technician

REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor


TERM: 12 months (260-day calendar), Non-Exempt

JOB GOAL: To Install, program, maintain and repair commercial low voltage systems, and ensure work is in accordance with relevant codes.


  • High School diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver's License required
  • Journeyman's License preferred, but years of experience and education will be considered
  • 4 years of experience in the low-voltage field
  • FBI/TBI Fingerprint/Background Clearance every five (5) years
  • Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent might find appropriate and acceptable

EVALULATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.


  1. Maintains and installs commercial low voltage systems including but not limited to repairing, maintaining, and designing.
  2. Retrofits equipment with controls needed to improve efficiency and performance of the devices.
  3. Performs telecommunications and data cabling.
  4. Responsible for running tests, isolating problems, replacing damaged section(s) of wiring, and laying conduit.
  5. Performs physically demanding tasks, such as moving or lifting heavy objects, digging trenches for installing conduit.
  6. Performs other job related tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
