TITLE: Post-Secondary Transition Consulting Teacher (District Level)

REPORTS TO: Building Administrator

SUPERVISES: N/A

TERM: 11 months (220-day contract), Exempt

JOB GOAL: To equitably provide higher education access and success services to students making the transition from high school by creating partnerships with both higher education institutions to align expectations and build college aspirations, and with business and industry to increase workforce development opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING:

  • Valid Tennessee teacher's certificate
  • Master's degree
  • Minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience
  • FBI/TBI Fingerprint/Background Clearance every five (5) years
  • Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent might find appropriate and acceptable

EVALULATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Commits to being a champion of diversity, equity, and inclusivity to ensure that each student has an equitable experience and feels a sense of belonging.
  2. Empowers students by providing the tools they need to make a successful transition to higher education and the job market.
  3. Delivers individualized support through one-on-one advising sessions including a range of appropriate postsecondary opportunities and career assessments to help students determine their best-fit option.
  4. Develops and implements Engagement and Career Plans with students who are at risk for not graduating, working with teachers, counselors, parents, employers, mentors, and other individuals or organizations that have responsibility for or that significantly influence the student's personal and school life.
  5. Works with faculty and administrators to develop credit recovery and alternative options to adapt curriculum and differentiated instruction to meet the needs of identified at risk students.
  6. Assists students in completing and submitting applications for college admission, financial aid, Tennessee Promise, and scholarships, as well as career assessments.
  7. Provides college success workshops for students and their families.
  8. Maintains continuous data collection on student progress in postsecondary planning.
  9. Develops transition programs and vertical teams with middle and high schools to develop action steps to improve individual student and subgroup transition success rate.
  10. Provides information sessions for middle school students to encourage early planning for postsecondary opportunities.
  11. Schedules and hosts business, industry, and college tours for students.
  12. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the building administrator.
